This dress was constructed using an existing simplicity pattern with modifications to the sleeves as the pattern given was missing the pieces.
The robe was made using an existing simplicity pattern out of crepe-back satin with gold and fur trim. The hat was made of the same fabric and trims as the robe and a self-drafted pattern. The inner robe is made of a metallic brocade-like fabric as the front and a cotton as the back with a Velcro closure and gold trim at the hem.
This started out as a two-piece set that I had attached individual rows of fringe to. The set started out with stretch but as I had sewn the fringe to it, it would not stretch anymore so I added fabric to the back of the skirt and attached a separating zipper to the bodice.
I made this for a high school production of Moana jr. It is a drawstring skirt made of cotton and an overskirt that is also made of cotton with a lace trim that fastens with snaps on the side. The sash is a long strip of cotton that is wrapped twice around the torso and tied to the side.
